Making the decision to workout this summer has been darn hard! The summer months are hard on me every year when choosing to work out. It’s not that I don’t want to be healthy and stay fit and tight. It’s that there are so many other things pulling me in all directions. This summer has been no different. Frustrating! In addition, finding out I was pregnant sure hasn’t helped my motivation either. I have been working hard to stay on track with my fitness goals and maintenance. However, I have tweaked things a bit with my workout routines. Here are a few things I have done:
Since I am pregnant, I have been monitoring my heart rate even more than normal.. I figured out my ideal/target heart rate (see prior article that I wrote ), and stuck to that to a T. I love the Smooth Fitness that I have been working out on because it does have a heart rate monitor. Makes it very easy to keep track! When I’m tired, I rest. When I have pain, I rest. Period. Drinking lots of water. So many people get dehydrated during the summer months when working out because they aren’t drinking enough water. I am staying on top of it. Not beating myself up when I can’t get to my workout. I typically work out 4-5 times a week, but these summer months I have been able to work out 2-3…and that’s OK. The kids are only young once, and soon enough they will be in school and I’ll be missing them. 🙂
